Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers about container sizes, conditions, ordering, payments, delivery, site preparation, returns and customer support.
01 What types of shipping containers do you sell?
CMG Container Sales offers a variety of container types, including standard dry containers, high cube containers, refrigerated containers, open top containers, flat rack containers and other available configurations.
02 What container sizes are available?
Our most common sizes include 20ft and 40ft shipping containers. High cube and specialty configurations may also be available depending on current inventory.
03 What is the difference between a standard and high cube container?
A high cube container provides additional interior height compared with a standard container. This can be useful for taller cargo, additional storage capacity, racking or conversion projects.
04 Do you sell new and used containers?
Yes. Depending on inventory, containers may be available in newer or one trip condition as well as various used condition grades.
05 What does one trip container mean?
A one trip container is generally a newer container that has completed limited cargo transportation since manufacture. Minor handling marks may still be present even though the container is considered a premium condition option.
06 What does cargo worthy mean?
Cargo worthy generally describes a used container that is structurally suitable for cargo use subject to any required inspection, certification and carrier requirements. Cosmetic wear should be expected.
07 What does wind and watertight mean?
Wind and watertight containers are typically used for stationary storage. They are intended to protect contents from normal wind and rain while showing the cosmetic wear expected from a used container.
08 Will a used container have dents, scratches or rust?
It may. Used shipping containers are industrial equipment and can show dents, scratches, faded paint, surface corrosion, previous repairs and other normal signs of transportation and handling.
09 Are the product photos of the exact container?
Some product images may show the specific container while others may be representative of the same size, type or condition grade. Customers should review the complete product description before ordering.
10 How do I choose the right container?
Consider your intended use, required dimensions, storage volume, container condition, access requirements and budget. Our team can also help you compare available options.
11 How can I place an order?
You can select an available container through our website and follow the applicable ordering or checkout process. If you need assistance before ordering, contact our sales team.
12 What payment methods do you accept?
CMG Container Sales currently accepts only Bank Transfers and Wire Transfers. Payment instructions are provided in connection with the applicable order or invoice.
13 Do you currently accept credit or debit cards?
No. At this time our accepted payment methods are Bank Transfer and Wire Transfer unless another payment method is expressly confirmed by CMG Container Sales.
14 When is my order considered paid?
Your order is considered paid once the required funds have been received and verified. A transfer receipt may show that payment was initiated but does not necessarily confirm that the funds have cleared.
15 What is your shipping cost?
Our standard flat rate shipping and delivery charge is $575 unless a different shipping arrangement is expressly stated for the applicable order.
16 How long does shipping and delivery take?
Our standard shipping and delivery timeframe is approximately 5–7 days after the order has been confirmed and is ready for dispatch.
17 Is the 5–7 day delivery timeframe guaranteed?
The 5–7 day period is our standard delivery timeframe. Severe weather, road conditions, carrier disruptions, site access problems or other circumstances outside reasonable control can occasionally affect delivery scheduling.
18 Will I be contacted before delivery?
Delivery may be coordinated using the telephone number or email address provided with your order. Please make sure your contact information is accurate and accessible.
19 What access is required for container delivery?
The delivery vehicle needs sufficient road access, entrance width, turning room and unloading space. Overhead power lines, trees, fences, buildings, soft ground and steep slopes should also be considered before delivery.
20 What surface should my container be placed on?
The placement area should generally be firm, reasonably level and capable of supporting the loaded container. Suitable foundations vary by site and intended use.
21 Can I choose which direction the container doors face?
You should identify your preferred door orientation before unloading. Final placement remains dependent on safe vehicle access and the physical conditions of the site.
22 What happens if the delivery truck cannot access my site?
If delivery cannot safely be completed because of undisclosed site conditions or access restrictions, the order may need to be rescheduled. Additional transportation or redelivery costs actually incurred may apply and will be communicated before redelivery is arranged.
23 Should I inspect the container when it arrives?
Yes. When reasonably possible, check the container size, type, exterior condition, doors, locking hardware, floor and any visible transportation damage at delivery.
24 What should I do if my container arrives damaged?
Contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide clear photographs of the container and affected area. We will review the circumstances and determine an appropriate resolution.
25 Can shipping containers be modified?
Containers can be adapted for many applications. Depending on the project and available services, modifications may include doors, windows, ventilation, insulation, electrical work, HVAC, partitions or other features.
26 Do I need permits for a shipping container?
Permit, zoning and building requirements depend on your location and intended use. Customers should confirm local requirements with the appropriate authority before installation or structural modification.
27 Can I use a shipping container as a workshop or office?
Shipping containers are frequently adapted for many different uses. Suitability depends on the container, proposed modifications, site conditions and applicable building, safety and permitting requirements.
28 Can I return a container?
Eligible customers may request a return within 30 calendar days of delivery. Because containers require specialized transportation, please contact us before arranging any return.
29 How long does a refund take?
Once an eligible returned container has been received, inspected and approved, the applicable refund will be initiated within 14 days. Your bank may require additional processing time afterward.
30 Who pays for return transportation?
For a standard change of mind return, reasonable return transportation costs may be the customer's responsibility. If the return results from a verified error attributable to CMG Container Sales, appropriate arrangements will be reviewed.
31 Can customized containers be returned?
Containers materially modified specifically for a customer's requirements may not qualify for an ordinary change of mind return after the requested work has been completed. This does not limit rights that may apply to defective or incorrect work.
32 Is sales tax charged on container purchases?
Applicable sales tax may be charged according to the product, transaction, delivery destination and any valid tax exemption. The applicable tax amount should be reflected in your transaction information where required.
33 Can tax exempt or resale customers purchase from you?
Qualifying customers may submit valid exemption or resale documentation where applicable. Documentation may need to be verified before tax exempt treatment is applied.
34 Can I cancel an order before delivery?
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel an order. Cancellation options may depend on whether the container has already entered preparation, modification, dispatch or transportation.
